Police are hunting a masked suspect who was allegedly seen on CCTV launching fireworks at a Chinese-run nightclub in Thailand.

The balaclava-wearing man reportedly detonated fireworks outside the Superstar KTV Club along Pattaya South Road in the early hours of the morning.

CCTV footage shows him placing a plastic bag over the venue's front security camera, but another angle captures him planting a rocket box inside the compound and lighting the fuse.

He fled as the explosives erupted, sending sparks across the premises and shattering the glass entrance.

Bystanders fled as consecutive blasts jolted the area, which was shrouded in smoke when police arrived.

Investigators recovered a box of spent fireworks near the property's fence.

They reviewed security footage and identified the suspect as a tall, slim man wearing a balaclava.

Khanompang, 26, said the owner was previously involved in a business-related dispute.

Police Colonel Anek Sathongyu, superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, said police were working to identify the alleged perpetrator.

He said: ‘I have sent investigators to the scene to collect evidence and identify the suspect.

‘As for the establishment, we will summon the owner and all business partners, who are Chinese investors, for questioning to determine the cause of the dispute that led to the incident.

‘We believe this was an act of intimidation.

‘We are confident that we will be able to arrest the perpetrator and bring them to justice in the near future.'
