A fire tore through a cotton warehouse complex and destroyed four buildings in Thailand.

The blaze broke out at a factory packed with cotton fabrics and products near Bangkok, on June 30.

Terrified workers fled as the flames quickly grew, fuelled by strong winds and the flammable items stocked inside.

Firefighters rushed to the scene at 12:30 pm local time, where they found thick black smoke billowing as the inferno ripped through four connected warehouses.

Footage shows dark smoke plumes swirling out of the property as officers doused the raging fire.

Fearing workers were still trapped inside, Deputy Minister of Interior Jeseth Thaiseth ordered heavy machinery to partially demolish the warehouse walls for a search.

The factory owner objected over concerns about property damage, but no one was found inside and no injuries were reported. Around 20 workers were present at the time.

Officials said the fire was brought under control at 4:30 pm, though smoke still blanketed the premises. It reportedly caused an estimated 10 million baht in damages.

Phichet Seerung, 43, the owner of a nearby car repair shop, said he saw smoke billowing from the area at around noon.

He added: 'The workers tried to put it out with fire extinguishers, but the wind was so strong that the flames spread very quickly because the warehouse was packed with fabric.'

Authorities said the exact cause of the fire was being investigated.
