Police are hunting a foreign suspect who allegedly threw acid on an apartment caretaker while reportedly searching for his ex-girlfriend in Thailand.

Caretaker Wirawan Aphimethithamrong, 43, was at the reception desk when the distraught male suspect arrived, asking if his ex-girlfriend was staying at the apartments in Pattaya.

The man was said to have barged into the property on June 23, knocking on doors despite being told she had already moved out.

Staff ushered him away for causing a disturbance, but he returned moments later and allegedly hurled acid at an unsuspecting Wirawan.

The employee screamed as the corrosive acid ate through her skin, leaving painful blisters and burns.

The suspect then fled while colleagues called emergency services for help.

Harrowing footage shows paramedics flushing Wirawan's wounds as she lay covered in bandages on a gurney.

She was heard sobbing as the water hit her injuries before she was rushed to Chonburi Hospital for treatment.

Police later arrived at Porn House, where the alleged acid attack happened. They found the counter, documents, a seat cushion and a doormat burnt by acid.

A Pattaya City police officer said: 'The suspect remains at large, and we only have a photograph of the man as a lead in our investigation.

'We are continuing efforts to track him down and arrest him for further legal action.'

Staff member Naruemon, 33, said she heard a foreign man knocking on doors while searching for his ex-girlfriend at the apartment.

She said: ‘I was inside the room on the third floor and heard a foreigner knocking on every door, so I opened mine.

‘My shift is later, so I don't know exactly what happened, but I was told that his girlfriend used to stay here, so he came to check.

‘Someone told me that he was not a customer here, so I chased him out with Wirawan.

‘I did not know when he returned for the second time. I heard Wirawan screaming and I saw the moment acid was splashed.

‘I gave her first aid, called the police and ambulance. That was all I saw.

‘He immediately went in that direction. He was taunting us in a foreign language.'

Officials said Wirawan remains in the hospital receiving treatment for her injuries.
