A police steamroller crushed hundreds of noisy modified exhaust pipes during a crackdown on illegal street racing in Thailand.

Footage shows officers flattening the seized exhaust pipes during a police press conference in Chiang Mai on May 12.

Officers had confiscated 335 modified motorcycles, 50 firearms, and 760 illegal exhaust pipes in the crackdown.

Eleven motorcycles suspected of being smuggled into the country without passing through customs checks were also recovered after patrol teams found them parked in a secluded border area.

Police Major General Manop Senakul said authorities have dismantled groups linked to illegal street motorcycle racing and modified vehicles.

He said: 'The Chiang Rai Provincial Police will continue to crack down on modified vehicles, street racing, and combat crime and illegal activities along the border to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.'

Officials said they also seized 2.302 million methamphetamine pills and 4.5 pounds (2.05kg) of crystal meth and arrested five suspects in border raids.
